LEIMAY PRESENTING SERIES 2017: SOAK
Phaedra staggers under Aphrodite’s heavy curse. Wife to Theseus, she burns for his son Hippolytus. When he rejects her, she destroys both him and herself. Phaedra is a staged performance of Britten’s solo cantata for mezzo soprano designed and performed by Judith Barnes, arranged for and accompanied by chamber ensemble.
