'Cuckoo Crow'

Haruko Nishimura, Joshua Kohl, and Josh Stewart, members of the Seattle based company Degenerate Arts Ensemble will perform their newest dance work, CUCKOO CROW, a journey combining live music and Butoh movement to create a mysterious desert world filled with unexpected characters, horror and humor. With her unusual self made style, Haruko’s dance and the characters she creates have been described as clowns and malevolent spirits onstage.

The music and sounds emanate from self-created instruments including the Panthrastic Harp Zither – a hybrid of violin, nail and string harp, and spring percussion. Instruments are also attached to the dancers bodies. The two musicians are fully choreographed into the work, creating a seamless world.
