EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM 2025: LUDUS
This winter marked a significant milestone for LEIMAY as LUDUS classes entered the curricula at Harvard University, Sarah Lawrence College, and Marymount Manhattan College. This achievement reflects the dedication of our Ensemble and the efforts of Andrea Jones, a senior company member who coordinated the LUDUS teacher training program alongside artistic director Ximena Garnica.
Rooted in Butoh, Noguchi Taiso, and experimental theater, LUDUS is an embodied practice that cultivates presence, transformation, and interconnection. Andrea’s crucial leadership prepared new instructors, ensuring that LUDUS continues to grow with depth and authenticity. Meanwhile, Masanori Asahara, who began by assisting Ximena’s university classes, co-taught at Sarah Lawrence College, further expanding the reach of LUDUS.
Ximena continued to serve as a guest instructor at various universities, deepening the dialogue between LUDUS and academic settings. The inclusion of LUDUS in these institutions affirmed the importance of embodied knowledge in fostering empathy, resilience, and a profound connection to the world around us.
This spring, Ensemble members led the next cycle of community classes, marking an important step in expanding the practice!
