Deceived

Edith Raw

LEIMAY PRESENTING SERIES 2010: FERMENT

This piece reveals layers of deception related to birthplace, war, love, and self. The costume features casting material and paper copies, with the artist’s own hand-painted poetry plus autopsy tags. Live percussion and vocals will also punctuate the spiritual, transformative nature of the themes.

Edith Raw is a performance artist originally from Chicago. She has been described as a “walking installation” incorporating word, movement, costume and social commentary. Recent notable performances include Lincoln Center Summerfest 2007 and Art in Odd Places 2008.
