Bodies on the Brink pairs four dancers of the LEIMAY Ensemble with four kinetic sculptures to explore the interplay between the materials of body and sculpture, revealing the physics of causality and metaphoric potential for interconnectivity. This 15 minute score can be looped up to 4 times in a row or can be performed over the course of a full day with pauses. The work utilizes sonic sculptures with wireless mics that respond to the friction of performance.

In Spring 2026, LEIMAY will host a series of public programs tied to the development of Bodies os the Brink.

These include: free, reservable open rehearsals where the public can observe composers and dancers collaboratively explore the kinetic sculptures; a facilitated word circle engaging participants around the physics of causality and the metaphorical interconnectivity; and an open-to-all LUDUS workshop offering embodied exploration of the work’s themes. The series culminates in a public dance performance at CAVE as part of LEIMAY’s AT HOME Series.

Bodies on the Brink is a work developed by Ximena Garnica and Shige Moriya with the LEIMAY Ensemble: Krystel Mazzeo, Masanori Asahara & Akane Little; and guests: Jeremy Slater in music composition

Bodies on the Brink was developed and presented by LEIMAY at CAVE, home of LEIMAY, during At Home: Encounter with LEIMAY, May 2026.
