LEIMAY is delighted to introduce the dance artists of the Winter-Spring 2026 Incubator Program Cohort: Quashiera Muhammad, Sam Murray, Yolette Yellow-Duke, Eden Johnson & Storm Stokes. DISCOVER THEIR PROJECTS!

Over the course of 10 weeks, each member of this cohort will immerse themselves in a rigorous, intensive studio schedule, focusing on artistic research, the creation of new works, and the development of their movement and performance practices. Here’s a glimpse of what they’ll be working on:
  • Quashiera Muhammad will dedicate her time to develop a duet that plays with text. She and her group will use Incubator Program to lay the groundwork, build structure and phrases, and play with transitions between text and physically demanding movements.

  • Sam Murray will use this program to investigate a cross between dance and drag physicality, to spend time with my beautiful cast of freaks developing a language together, and to develop a draft of this work that is ready to present. I have a few relationships with venues that I believe would be perfect for this project, but have been yet unable to begin due to lack of access to rehearsal space.

  • Eden Johnson will focus on build a choreo a reel, and begin formal development on “Back Between Villages”, a narrative dance piece that wrestles with what it means for your home base to shift and if the place you grew up in ever truly leaves you.

  • Storm Stokes want to develop a pilot for an interactive, evening length installation. Specifically, they will continue to develop two opposing movement vocabularies that will create narrative in the work. Together, create a series of ‘moving pictures’ that embody and advocate for respair.
