Furnace
This international collaboration is a window into the continuous dance and performance research of an eclectic group of dancers and artists from three different generations and seven nationalities. Furnace is envisioned not as a representation of something but rather as the thing itself. LEIMAY artists Shige Moriya and Ximena Garnica collaborate with world-renowned butoh master Ko Murobushi and seven other emerging artists to create a world “fecund with images of magic and reality. Real time and surreal time co-exist. People and spectral creatures co-mingle. Death and birth are interchangeable ideas. Furnace takes place in a huge crackled mirror, a shimmering reflecting pool, a bizarre carnival funhouse, a shaded forest clearing, and if you want to be very literal, it could also be happening inside an oven lined with the silver foil which keeps the heat from incinerating its contents”.
